We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Gretchen Coley on The Best of Raleigh Podcast to share the story behind Beacon Street’s approach to developing in beloved historic neighborhoods. It was an incredible opportunity to talk about the values that drive us—from honoring history to creating spaces that foster connection and community.

One of our favorite moments was Jim Wiley, President of Beacon Street, sharing his thoughts on stewardship and the long-term vision for our developments:

You want to honor these neighborhoods and what made them special. Architecture is a background that’s not meant to be the highlight; the neighborhood and the interaction should be.

That perfectly encapsulates our mission to build places that stand the test of time.

Another highlight was James Wiley offering insight into The Brightbury, one of the residences in our newest project, Birney Park. James explained how spaces like the Club Room and Rooftop Terrace are thoughtfully designed to promote a sense of community—making it easier for neighbors to connect and spend time together.
